Karbonn released its first tablet, the SmartTab 1, in August 2012. Featuring Android 4.0.3(Ice Cream Sandwich), it has wifi as well as 3G by dongle support but unfortunately no SIM support. So the only way of ensuring continuous and reliable access to the internet is a dongle-supported internet.
Connecting a dongle to a Karbonn tab has been an issue with a huge chunk of customers. We share with you some of the possible solutions to the issues faced by users over connecting a dongle to a Smart Tab 1.
The most common problem faced by users in connecting a dongle is that the dongle is not detected by the tablet.
First and foremost, you need to go to your nearest authorized service center to install the application needed to connect your dongle to your SmartTab. Yes, unfortunately, a SmartTab supports the use of 3G dongle by connecting it to the USB port, but the software needed is not shipped with it. No matter which dongle you are connecting to it: Tata Photon, BSNL, Reliance or any other service provider’s dongle, this will be your first step.
Next, when you connect your dongle, it will automatically detect your dongle and you should be able to use your dongle without much hiccups.
Please note that many customers have faced problems installing Skype and many Google Play applications to the tablet and it has been observed and heard that even Google Talk installation has been an issue. After contacting the service centers, it came to our knowledge that these software are not supported by SmartTab. We were able to confirm this here. If we find any work-arounds for this, we’ll soon let you know. So stay in touch!
